How do we parent our kids in a manner that encourages sexual purity, according to God’s design? Our culture promotes a permissive view of sexuality without any acknowledgement of the physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual consequences of that lifestyle. Drawing from their own father/son relationship, Eric and Joel Wharton will discuss the challenges and rewards of engaging in these essential parenting conversations.
Eric, now retired, worked as a pastor and professional counselor for many years. Joel (MA, LPCC-S, Supervising Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor), is the Director of Pathways Counseling Center and he has a very extensive practice. Both of these men are gifted communicators on this vital topic!
Wednesday, Oct 11, 6:30pm / Sunday, Oct 15, 9:30am
Parents aren’t perfect. Neither are their kids! How do you choose what to discipline and what to let slide? Principled parenting gives you a compass to help you raise your kids, set reasonable boundaries, and de-stress your family relationships.
Joel Hardin (MA, LPCC, LICDC, NCC, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, National Certified Counselor), will lead this session.
Wednesday, Oct 18, 6:30pm / Sunday, Oct 22, 9:30am
Have you ever been surprised by the stuff that comes out of your kid? Parenting to the Core will identify core longings and show how those basic desires are linked to our children’s emotions, attitudes, and behavior. These same core needs also shape your perception and response to their behavior. Understanding those dynamics can help you to respond rather than react, to have insight into your child’s heart, rather than hindsight after an interaction.
Davia Stephenson (MA, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor), will lead this session. She is the mother of two sons, ages 18 and 22. This talk will especially be helpful in dealing with teens.
Sundays, Sept 17-Oct 29, 11am, Rm 101 (Off Oct 15)
