The FIXIT campaign to raise $1 million for facility upgrades was introduced October 2018 and pledges were collected through November 2018. The final amount pledged came to an amazing $1,230,868. Thanks be to God!

Perhaps even more exciting, in a church of roughly 500 households, we had commitments from 433 households.

Ministry House

Unfortunately, a recent structural inspection of the mission house revealed issues with the initial and subsequent construction that compromised the floor joists integrity, requiring that most of the floor joists need replaced or repaired. In order to meet the Ohio Building Code required for the change of use from housing to meeting space, plumbing, heating, and electrical will also need to be redone since they were what compromised the floor joists. Based on the costs of those changes, it does not seem wise to continue to invest in the property. The house has served its purposes over the years. A recommendation was made by the FIXIT team, and the Governance Board has agreed, to tear it down. We are currently collecting quotes for that process and for ways to donate the housing materials. Thankfully, we still have a good home for Pathways inside the walls of Heritage.

Indoor Playground

Painting began last week in Rm 132, thank you to the volunteers that participated. More improvements are taking place in that space and the actual playground unit will be installed in July.

The new carpet was installed on the floor of the auditorium the week of March 25th. Thank you to the group of volunteers that helped remove all the carpet off the walls and repair damaged walls in the auditorium. Please let an usher or facility staff know if/when there is a coffee spill so that we can stay on top of those potential stains.

The exterior project, including signage and new main entrance canopy, was presented to Genoa Township Department of Development and Zoning Commission on February 11. All has been approved to move forward.

In the original scope of the campaign, it was our desire to replace siding on the front of the building and then paint the existing siding on the rest of the building. God had something bigger in mind! We are beyond grateful to James Hardie, the manufacturer of the HARDIEPLANK and HARDIESHINGLE siding, for donating siding for the entire building and for the ministry house. We will end up with a better product that will last longer than we had even anticipated!
